MADAR's pre-call workshops

Racines aisbl and Association des Migrations International (AMI) organized six regional pre-call workshops in six Moroccan regions (Casablanca-Settat, Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceima, Draa Tafilalet, Fès-Meknès, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra and Souss-Massa) between November and December 2020.

These workshops are spaces for exchange between civil society, practitioners, researchers, cultural actors, artists ... working on issues of migration and forced displacement in Morocco. The aim was to identify the main priorities for action and research...

SpeakArt tour is over !

The national tour of SpeakArt ended on the 5th of November. The theatre forum play « My sweet school » was performed in the public space in Oujda, Azrou, Tangiers, Rabat, Tinghir, Afourar, Safi, Casablanca, Guelmim, Akka, Tiznit and Biougra, at the end of a day of workshops with the youngsters, on citizenship and the introduction to the forum theatre skills and theatrical expression.

SpeakArt by numbers: 12 cities and towns, 5 064 kilometers on the road, 12 performances, 275 participants to the training workshops...


Call for applications: sud ecriture film writing workshop

The Sud Ecriture training workshops are launching a call for applications to take part in the 33rd international workshop for rewriting first or second feature films.

This workshop is open to five feature-length fiction projects from the following geographical areas: the Maghreb, the Middle East (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria) and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The workshop will take place as two one-week sessions, under the mentorship of a scriptwriter and assisted by the pedagogical committee of Sud Ecriture.



Freemuse releases Art Under Threat annual statistics on censorship and attacks on artistic freedom in 2015

Censorship and attacks on artistic freedom on the rise in 2015 Artistic freedom is under extreme pressure in many countries, according to a new report, Art Under Threat, released by Freemuse today. China tops the list of countries that systematically violates and fails to secure artistic freedom with 20 registered serious violations in 2015, followed by Iran with 16, Russia with 15, and three countries tied in fourth place with 10 violations each: Burundi, Syria and Turkey. Racines has elected its new board !

We are pleased to announce that, after its general assembly held on Saturday, April 4, 2015, the association Racines for culture, development and promotion of creative industries in Morocco and Africa, has renewed its board. Petition to include arts education in the Moroccan public schools !

A group of Moroccan visual arts and music teachers as well as inspectors, launched a petition following the coming establishment of '' Institutions of Artistic and Literary Creativity" by the Ministry of Education, considering that this decision was taken without a prior project study neither a consultation with the professionals; and that such institutions will consume a huge budget (1.05 million dh per institution).
