The Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Pina Bausch Foundationhave co-developed the Pina Bausch Fellowship for Dance and Choreography, a grant programme that promotes the artistic development of dancers and choreographers.
The aim is for the grant holders to get to know new ways of expression and extend their repertoire of movements. The fellowship promotes grants for temporary residence at renowned institutions abroad, non-paid participation in an ensemble or a placement with a choreographer at home or abroad, or the study of dance techniques with renowned personalities at home or abroad.
Each fellowship can last a minimum of three months and no longer than six months. It includes a monthly allowance of €2,500 to cover the costs of accommodation, food, visas, and possible fees and one-time travel expenses.
The fellowship, which is promoted internationally, has no age restrictions and is aimed at single artists from the fields of dance and choreography. Please note that dancers should have a university/academic degree in dance and/or two years’ professional experience with a renowned ensemble; choreographers should have created at least one production that has had a public performance in the last three years.
For the duration of their fellowship, applicants must find a cooperating partner (be it an ensemble, a choreographer, an institution, or a personality from a dance or choreographic training institution).
Up to four fellowships are granted each year.
