Call for applications: primed mediterranean audiovisual awards 2017

PriMed, the International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage, is open to all directors, producers and distributors who, through their programmes or their work, contribute to a bringing about a better knowledge of the Mediterranean countries in a broad sense, from the Atlantic coast to the Black Sea. PriMed, the International Prize for Mediterranean Documentary and Reportage, is open to all directors, producers and distributors who, through their programmes or their work, contribute to a bringing about a better knowledge of the Mediterranean countries in a broad sense, from the Atlantic coast to the Black Sea.

The board of directors of the Mediterranean Centre for Audiovisual Communication has launched the call for entries for the 21st PriMed awards, to be held in Marseille (France) in November/December 2017.

The deadline for entries is 31 March 2017

The audiovisual works presented should be about the culture, heritage, history, societies and lives of the men and women living in Mediterranean countries. They must not contain any form of advertising or propaganda. The presented works must have been produced after 1 January 2016. Each work can only be submitted for one category, and this choice must be clearly indicated on the application form. Registration for PriMed is free.

The following seven prizes will be awarded in the competition:

–        “Mediterranean Challenges” Grand Prix

–        “Mediterranean Memories” Award

–        “First Documentary Film” Award

–        “Mediterranean Art, Heritage and Cultures” Award

–        “Young audience” Award

–        “Mediterranean Short Doc” Award – Audience award

–        “Mediterranean Multimedia” Award

In addition, several broadcasting awards may be given out by representatives of television companies.

PriMed aims to promote and reward programmes displaying remarkable quality and creativity, in terms of both their content and their art forms.

PriMed also offers the Marseilles public many free screenings in the presence of directors, exhibitions, meetings and conferences about current events and the cultures of the Mediterranean.
