LIS Lab Performing Arts – in conjunction with the Municipality of Verbania and with the support of the Piemonte region, Fondazione Cariplo, Compagnia di San Paolo, Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo, CRT and Municipality of Cannobio – has announced the third edition of the International CROSS Award for artists and companies in the field of performing arts and music, with a particular emphasis on productions focused on the close interaction between musical composition and on-stage action.
CROSS aims to produce new performances based on contemporary languages, create a participative audience and increase the citizen’s cultural role in the Verbano Cusio Ossola area.
CROSS also aims to promote research, investigation and artistic expressions related to the combination of different styles and genres, incorporating multi-language practices and a mix of techniques and codes pertaining to the various performing arts.
The CROSS activities and events take place mainly in the surroundings of the new ‘Il Maggiore’ Theatre in Verbania, a building created with the aim of becoming the beating heart of cultural activities in this area.
Eligibility criteria:
- The call is open to individual artists, professionals and companies with at least three years of production experience, demonstrable by curriculum vitae;
- The project must be submitted as a production that can be developed during the different phases of the residency;
- Projects should include a variety of expressive practices, such as dance, musical composition and interpretation, DJ set, live soundtrack, composition of a soundtrack, noise music, theatre, body performance, singing, new technologies, video art, motion capture, readings or site-specific design, etc;
- Each participant may present only one project that has not been published in the past.
Three finalists will be selected and hosted in Verbania and Cannobio for a week-long art residency.
A board of experts will decide on the winner, who will receive a prize of €4,000 to support the production.
