Closing of “Les Etats Généraux de la Culture” in Morocco
After a first edition on November 2014 in Rabat, Racines organized the 2nd edition of “Etats Généraux de la Culture au Maroc“, from 10 to 12 November 2016, at the “Fabrique Culturelle des Anciens Abattoirs de Casablanca“. After a first edition on November 2014 in Rabat, Racines organized the 2nd edition of “Etats Généraux de la Culture au Maroc“, from 10 to 12 November 2016, at the “Fabrique Culturelle des Anciens Abattoirs de Casablanca“. This edition coincided with Theatre Nomade’s 10th anniversary.
This edition was mainly about the evaluation of cultural policies in Morocco. It enabled the presentation of the results of the survey on Moroccans’ cultural practices made by Racines in 2016, and the new version of its online cultural mapping. Workshops (on cultural policies, freedom of creation, cultural professions, cultural incubators) and a networking space gathered Moroccan civil society operators coming from the 12 regions of Morocco, and international partners from Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine, France, Germany, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Rwanda, Gabon and Zimbabwe.
More than 20 000 people came to the “Anciens Abattoirs“ during the 3 days. They attended the varied artistic programming : Theater, parkour, circus, exhibitions, architectural installation, concerts, graffiti….
