Event

October 14th, 15th and 16th.

Moroccan Center for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship.

Moroccan CISE and madNess are pleased to present Disrupt!/Graphics!/, an ideathon where you will work closely with your team, mentors and trainers to develop your idea into a viable social venture. Throughout the event, entrepreneurs, designers, marketers, artists, and communication specialists will guide you to make your idea a reality. At the end of the event, teams will pitch their projects before a jury for the opportunity to win up to 2500 Euro.

Through this intense 72-hour Ideathon, we aim to support young Moroccan entrepreneurs and creatives in addressing society’s problems through collaboration and innovation.

Who can apply?

We are looking for disruptive ideas that can leverage the visual arts to address Morocco’s biggest social and environmental challenges.

In order to apply, your idea should fit the description of at least one of the Disrupt!/Graphics!/ Themes. Teams of up to 3 people will be accepted, and we encourage diverse and multi-disciplinary teams to apply.

Once selected, you will be informed by email and a date will be set for a preparatory meeting to get you ready for the ideathon.

Themes

Environment

This year, Morocco has the honor of hosting the COP22, the world’s most important climate conference, and an important means of putting the spotlight on major challenges facing Morocco and North Africa, such as pollution, over fishing, and desertification.

Migration

Morocco is an important country for regional migration, as the country of origin, of transit, and destination for hundreds of thousands of people every year. Migrants and refugees face unique challenges as they adapt to new languages, new cultures, and new economies.

The Creative Economy

The creative economy in Morocco employs 40,000 people and has grown over 4% in the past 15 years. It is not only an important vector for economic growth, but also a means of bringing together different socio-economic groups. In order to achieve its full potential, Morocco needs more professionally-trained creatives, more non-creatives, and new means educating and reaching “consumers” of culture.

Important dates to remember:

  • Application deadline: September 30th
  • Selection of finalists: October 5th
  • Preparatory meeting: October 6 -11
  • Disrupt!/Graphics!/ ideathon: October 14, 15, 16
