Participation of Racines to conferences and meetings, in Morocco and internationally

  • Aadel Essaadani, Racines‘ general coordinator, attended the Workshop @Academy: Ahead of the curve held from 19-20 May 2017 in Berlin and organized by Robert Bosch Academy and the German Commission for UNESCO. The workshop gathered several thinkers, activists and key civil society organisations representatives from Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Arab World, to consider the changes that are taking place within the global economic, political cultural and other spaces, and to evaluate and reinvigorate the contemporary meaning and relevance of the 2005 UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions to this changing world both now and in the years to come. 

  • Mehdi Azdem, General Director of Racines, was invited to participate in the conferences and debates organized within the AUMR’ART Festival for urban cultures in Tiznit on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 May 2017. On 5 May, the opening conference was focused on the theme “Tiznit, African hub for the urban cultures” and Mehdi Azdem presented the FADAE campaign and Artmap cultural cartography. On 6 May, the debate was focused on public funding and cultural policies with the participation of decision-makers and local civil society actors.

  • Organized by the Institut français de Casablanca on Friday 19 May 2017 from 9.30am to 4pm, the participative seminary “Art in public space to build cultural citizenship: the mediation at stake” was the occasion to gather the testimonies of many actors of the Moroccan cultural and artistic sector. Mehdi Azdem, General Director of Racines presented the actual situation of the artistic expressions in public space during this day. 

 

  • Within the MARSAD project (Mediterranean Action and Research for Sustainability And Development), Racines organized two preparatory meetings for the “Etats généraux de la culture” in Tunisia, in partnership with the the association Our Culture first on May 15th and 16th 2017 at the Art Rue association headquarters in Tunis. Mehdi Azdem, General Director of Racines presented the MARSAD project and the “Etats généraux de la culture” in Morocco, and facilitated a workshop about cultural mapping. 50 cultural and civil society actors participated in these meetings. The next day, a debate has been organized in Hammamet to discuss about the methodology to launch the “Etats généraux de la culture” in Tunisia.
