Racines’ participation in meetings and conferences, in Morocco and abroad

Within the context of “Transmaking” project, in partnership with Relais Culture Europe, Leila Lansari, project manager at Racines association, had a secondment from 15 August to 15 September at Bunker association in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was also an opportunity to assist to the 20th edition of the festival “Mladi Levi”.
Within the framework of the same project, Mehdi Azdem, general director of Racines is spending an exchange month at the University of Economy of Valencia, at Econcult. This trip will be an opportunity for Mehdi Azdem, to share Racines’ experience in terms of cultural policies in Morocco with the researchers of Econcult. It will also be an opportunity for him to meet and network with different people from the creative and cultural sector in Valencia.

Dounia Benslimane, Racines’ development and partnership director, has been invited by the US Embassy in Morocco to attend the “International Visitors Leadership Programme“, from 3 to 23 September 2017, on the theme of “NGOs and civic activism”. The IVLP programme was implemented by the Meridian International Center and it enabled twenty participants from 18 different countries worldwide to meet with US NGOs and foundations in Washington DC, New York, Milwaukee (Wisconsin), Saint Louis (Minnesota) , Iowa City (Iowa) and Portland (Oregon). The participants had the opportunity to learn how those NGOs work and their varied domains of expertise: human rights, citizenship, political participation, youth, education and new technologies. 

Aadel Essaadani, general coordinator of Racines has convened, with Nedjma Hadj, the IETM Satellite meeting organized in Marrakech in collaboration with On Marche and Racines from 21 to 24 September 2017. This meeting has gathered around 35 cultural operators and dance experts from Morocco, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Belgium, the United State, Italy and France to design “Nafass”, a future Academy based in Morocco for dance professionals, and to reflect on the future development of education in the live arts sector in the region.

Aadel Essaadani, Racines’ general coordinator, participated to the “International Summit of the City and civil society organizations“, that was organized by the municipality of Esenler, in Istanbul from October 20th to 22nd 2017. Aadel Essaadani contributed to a panel coordinated by the Instanbul Foundation for art and Culture. The panel was entitled “Access to art and culture and local authorities“ and aimed to present a diagnosis of cultural policies in the Mediterranean, along with Racines’ work regarding this matter, in Morocco and in the MENA region.
