It is important that artistic creation and the role of artists are considered alongside human rights and freedoms in society. To this end, the Arts Rights Justice Program seeks to convey and professionalize skills, ensure the exchange of knowledge, make the most of multiplier effects and build expertise on the subject. Therefore, the aim is to strengthen and expand structures for the promotion and protection of artistic freedom.The program was developed in cooperation with 30 international expert institutions and is initially intended to run from 2017 until 2019. At the medieval Kulturcampus Domäne Marienburg in Hildesheim, Northern Germany

What is it about?

The international ARJ Conference attracts around 120 participants and is held directly at the end of the ARJ Academy. It aims to facilitate connections with active institutions and funders in the field and highlight discourse and required actions.

The thematic scope of the ARJ Conference 2017 will be announced soon.

Who?

Representatives of funding and network institutions, senior and junior experts involved in areas relating to art, culture and human rights, and ARJ Academy participants from all world regions.

 

The main topics of the ARJ Academy 2017 will be:

  • Freedom of artistic expression within human rights
  • Artists at risk, threat situations
  • Censorship and policy structures
  • Working with the artists: needs, relocation, protection, visas, funding
  • Mapping, networking and advocacy (with examples worldwide)
